Accessing Counselling Should Not Feel Complicated
I make the process simple, supportive, and respectful of your time and needs. My goal is to help you focus on what matters most- your healing and wellbeing.
Support After a Difficult Experience
The effects of violence or crime can continue long after the immediate event has passed. You may be experiencing anxiety, fear, grief, anger, difficulty trusting others, changes in relationships, or simply a sense that life does not feel the way it did before.
Counselling can provide a private and supportive space to process what happened, understand how it is affecting you now, and begin moving forward at a pace that feels manageable.
What Is CVAP?
The Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) is a British Columbia government program that may provide financial assistance and counselling benefits to eligible people affected by violent crime.
Counselling benefits may be available to:
Victims of violent crime
People who have experienced physical or psychological injury as a result of an eligible violent crime.
Immediate family members
In some circumstances, immediate family members of an injured or deceased victim may be eligible for counselling benefits.
Certain witnesses
Some people who have witnessed or been significantly affected by a violent crime may also qualify for counselling support.
Eligibility and benefits are determined by CVAP. You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting a counsellor.
How CVAP Counselling Works
1. Confirm of Apply for CVAP Coverage
If you already have an approved CVAP claim, we can review the counselling information provided with your approval. If you have not yet applied, applications are submitted directly to the Crime Victim Assistance Program.
2. Connect With Me
contact me to discuss counselling and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
3. Begin Counselling
Once the necessary CVAP authorization is confirmed, sessions can be provided securely online or by telephone. Approved counselling services are billed directly to CVAP according to your benefits.
Counselling After Crime or Violence
There is no single way people respond to a traumatic or violent experience. Counselling may help if you are experiencing:
-
changes in relationships or trust
-
emotional numbness or disconnection
-
difficulty feeling safe
-
changes in confidence or sense of self
-
stress related to legal proceedings or major life changes
-
anxiety, fear, or feeling constantly on guard
-
intrusive thoughts or difficult memories
-
grief and loss
-
difficulty sleeping or relaxing
-
anger, guilt, shame, or confusion
You do not need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what you want to work on before reaching out. We can begin with what has been affecting you and determine together what support may be helpful.

Trauma-Informed Counselling at Your Pace
Experiences of violence can affect people in very different ways. My approach does not assume there is one correct way to respond, heal, or move forward.
Counselling with me is grounded, collaborative, and practical. We may work on understanding the effects of what happened, managing difficult emotions or trauma responses, rebuilding a sense of safety and trust, strengthening boundaries, or navigating relationships and life changes.
You remain in control of what you share and what we focus on. You will not be expected to repeatedly retell difficult experiences simply for the sake of talking about them.
